For us, choosing a novel to publish means meeting an author. This is not rhetoric: it means wearing out the soles of our shoes walking in those faraway countries. We don’t like sitting behind a desk, waiting for offers from international agents. We entered the bookshops of New Delhi and Singapore, we have visited  communities of artists in Djakarta and drunk wine with writers in the cafés on the Bund in Shanghai. In Bombay,  together with our first Indian novelists, we went on to the stage at the Kala Ghoda Festival, presenting the project of Metropoli d’Asia when not even one book had been translated  yet in Italy and nobody knew anything about us. The result is excellent:  a group of original voices, hitherto unknown to the Italian public.
